Evidence-based holistic wellness practices delivered within adult residential mental health treatment. Approaches include mindfulness meditation, art therapy, music therapy, movement, and nutritional support.
Holistic wellness at Villa Healing Center is a set of evidence-based integrative practices delivered within adult residential mental health treatment. Practices include mindfulness meditation, art therapy, music therapy, movement and recreational programming, and nutritional support, matched to each adult’s clinical situation and treatment plan. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and the American Psychological Association recognize several of these practices as effective adjuncts to evidence-based psychotherapy and psychiatric care. We accept most major commercial insurance.
Holistic wellness, also called integrative or complementary wellness in clinical settings and sometimes referred to as whole-person wellness, is a set of practices that address physical, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions of health alongside the primary psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management that anchor mental health treatment. The National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health describes complementary approaches as practices that have evidence-based mental and physical health benefits when used alongside conventional medical and psychological care.
The American Psychological Association recognizes several integrative practices as effective adjuncts in mental health treatment, including mindfulness-based interventions, art therapy, and music therapy. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration documents complementary practices in behavioral health treatment as supporting clinical engagement and skill-building.
Holistic wellness at Villa Healing is delivered within residential mental health treatment for adult patients. These practices supplement, rather than replace, the individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy when clinically appropriate, and psychiatric medication management that form the core of clinical care.
Integrative wellness at Villa Healing draws on several evidence-based practices. The specific practices included in each adult’s stay depend on clinical recommendation, individual interest, and current programming.
The clinical team and the adult patient discuss which practices fit each treatment plan during intake and adjust as the stay progresses.
Integrative wellness practices supplement clinical treatment for the conditions Villa Healing treats. Each condition below has a dedicated clinical page with the broader treatment framework.
The clinical mental health assessment at admission identifies which conditions are primary, which integrative practices may best support each adult’s treatment plan, and what frequency or intensity is appropriate.
Holistic wellness at Villa Healing is delivered within residential mental health treatment for adults, not as a standalone outpatient or virtual program. Villa Healing serves adults 18 and older under California Department of Social Services adult residential facility licensure. Wellness practices supplement, rather than replace, the psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management that form the core of clinical treatment.
Wellness programming is scheduled when clinically appropriate during the residential stay. Not every wellness practice fits every adult; the clinical team and the adult patient determine which practices to include based on diagnosis, treatment goals, individual interest, and clinical recommendation. Some practices, such as mindfulness meditation, may be offered as group programming. Others, such as art therapy with a credentialed therapist, may be one-to-one.
What Villa Healing does not provide: standalone outpatient wellness services, virtual wellness programming, pay-per-session wellness sessions, or wellness programs for adolescent or teen patients. Adults seeking outpatient integrative wellness providers can search Psychology Today, AAMFT TherapistLocator at therapistlocator.net, or NCCIH’s consumer health information at nccih.nih.gov for evidence-based complementary approaches.
Length of stay and wellness programming intensity are set by clinical recommendation. Wellness practices may continue at lower frequency through outpatient step-down when clinically indicated.
A typical week of wellness programming at Villa Healing may include several scheduled practices alongside individual therapy, group therapy, and psychiatric medication management. Mindfulness meditation is often a daily 30 to 45 minute group practice. Art therapy may be one to two sessions per week with a credentialed art therapist. Music therapy and movement programming are typically two to three sessions per week. Nutritional support is integrated into daily meals and may include individual consultation.
Practices are delivered by credentialed clinicians or trained facilitators within their scope of practice. Mindfulness instructors are typically licensed mental health clinicians with MBSR or MBCT training. Art therapists hold ATR or ATR-BC credentials. Music therapists hold MT-BC credentials. Nutrition consultation is provided by registered dietitians when clinically indicated.
Wellness programming aligns with the clinical treatment plan rather than operating separately. Clinical observations from wellness sessions feed back into the treatment team for coordination of care. Wellness goals are part of the overall treatment plan, not separate self-improvement objectives. Adults are informed at intake about how wellness sessions are documented and how clinical information is shared with the treatment team for coordination of care.
Wellness practices may not be clinically appropriate for every adult in every phase of treatment. The clinical team evaluates appropriateness during intake and adjusts as the stay progresses.
Villa Healing Center accepts most major commercial insurance for residential mental health treatment, which includes integrative wellness programming when it is part of the residential clinical program. Most commercial plans cover residential mental health care with prior authorization, and continued-stay reviews are conducted based on medical necessity. Out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan deductible and coinsurance.
If your plan is out-of-network, we work with you on out-of-network reimbursement, single-case agreements, and self-pay options. Call (888) 669-0661 to discuss options or to begin the admissions conversation.
