Residential anxiety treatment gives adults 18 and older an onsite, 24-hour clinical setting, a step past the single weekly hour most Encino therapists offer. Villa Healing Center runs this program a short drive west in Woodland Hills, for anxiety that has grown severe enough to disrupt work, sleep, and daily life. The onsite team includes licensed therapists, a psychiatric medication prescriber, registered nurses, and behavioral health technicians.
Four anxiety disorders form the core of the program. Generalized anxiety disorder brings persistent, wide-ranging worry with tension and sleep problems. Panic disorder involves repeated panic attacks and fear of recurrence. Social anxiety disorder produces intense fear of judgment and avoidance of social settings. Trauma-related anxiety and PTSD follow a traumatic event and carry hyperarousal, intrusive memories, and avoidance.
The move to residential care is warranted once weekly therapy no longer contains the anxiety. That happens when functioning falls apart, when avoidance or panic keeps someone home or away from work, or when anxiety appears with depression, trauma, or self-harm urges that require constant clinical presence. Villa Healing Center applies the LOCUS framework from the American Association of Community Psychiatrists to place each adult at the right level. Adults who remain stable at home receive PHP, IOP, or continued care instead of residential, guided by the clinical assessment.
Each residential day blends individual therapy, group therapy, family involvement, and integrative wellness programming. The first step is a clinical assessment by a licensed therapist shortly after admission, which determines the anxiety disorder, its severity, co-occurring conditions, and the correct level of care. From that assessment, the treatment team builds a plan and revisits it weekly. Programming includes individual and group sessions, scheduled family therapy, and wellness work covering mindfulness, yoga, art therapy with credentialed art therapists, and movement therapy. Admission includes screening for suicidal ideation and self-harm through the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, followed by ongoing monitoring and safety planning where clinically indicated.
The clinical model draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention, dialectical behavior therapy, EMDR, and medication management. CBT leads the daily work by reshaping the thought patterns that fuel anxiety and pairing that with structured exposure across individual and group sessions. Exposure and response prevention addresses panic disorder, social anxiety, and phobia features through gradual, supervised exposure. DBT is added for adults whose anxiety comes with emotional dysregulation or self-harm urges, teaching distress tolerance and emotional regulation. EMDR, delivered by EMDRIA-certified clinicians, treats trauma-related anxiety and PTSD. A psychiatric prescriber manages medication, most often SSRIs such as sertraline, escitalopram, and fluoxetine, or SNRIs such as venlafaxine and duloxetine, with benzodiazepines used only briefly and with caution.
Adults rarely arrive with anxiety alone, so the residential program treats it beside major depression, PTSD, ADHD, stress-related conditions, suicidal ideation, and self-harm whenever mental health is the primary concern. One integrated setting handling every condition outperforms care split across separate providers. Primary substance use disorder treatment is not offered at Villa Healing Center. For needs beyond the program’s scope, the SAMHSA locator at findtreatment.gov lists state-licensed programs nationwide.
Under federal parity law, commercial plans that cover mental health must match their medical and surgical benefits, and Villa Healing Center accepts most major commercial insurance for anxiety treatment. Prior authorization applies to residential care on most plans, and continued-stay reviews run on medical necessity through the LOCUS framework. Deductible and coinsurance determine out-of-pocket cost. For out-of-network plans, admissions works through reimbursement, single-case agreements, and self-pay options. Most admissions complete within a short window after insurance verification and clinical assessment, and same-day admission is possible in some cases. Call (888) 669-0661 to start.
